Well i cant argue with that. hard work will always pay off. But there is such thing as working to hard, just like being to honest. And I know what you might be thinking there is no such thing as working to hard or being to honest. Well sorry to burst your bubble but there is. Fr example if you work out 7 days a week every week you are working to hard. But if you work out 5-6 days a week every week then that's fine. Or if your writing a letter to the college you want to go to you don't want to be to honest and admit your flaws cause than they might not accept you.
